Unit Citation for Gallantry
The Unit Citation for Gallantry recognises extraordinary gallantry in action by a unit and all soldiers who served in the unit at the time of the recommendation for the award.

4th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (Commando) was awarded the Unit Citation for Gallantry on 22 November 2006.

“For acts of extraordinary gallantry in action in Afghanistan from 25 August 2005 to 02 September 2006, in support of the security and stabilisation operations in Afghanistan and the International Coalition Against Terrorism.”

Those who were members of the Battalion when the award was made wear a Federation Star in the centre of the ribbon and continue to wear the emblem for perpetuity.

Personnel who are subsequently posted to the Battalion wear the emblem without the Federation Star and only while actually posted to the unit.
