To The Australian 'Mo' Awards
Dear Chairman, Mr. Glenn Ware

This Association is aware that a number of Australian entertainers have been nominated for a Fellowship Mo Award in recognition of their services to the Australian troops in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and we fully support the nomination.

We would like to acknowledge the contribution by Lorrae Desmond MBE, Dinah Lee, Little Pattie OAM, Sylvia Raye, Lynne Fletcher and Jacqui De Paul, whom we fondly referred to as "our girls", for volunteering and giving freely of their time to entertain our troops during the Vietnam War.

Words cannot adequately describe our feelings and admiration for this group of ladies who were obviously patriotic and cared enough for the moral(e) of our troops in Vietnam. We appreciated the risk they took to do so and for this we salute them.

We can assure them that their presence in Vietnam in concerts, when visiting wounded servicemen and women at military hospitals or visiting troops at various bases, did in fact boost moral(e) and for this they will always be admired and fondly remembered by Vietnam Veterans. They were a "sight for sore eyes" and may I say, still are.

Their contribution to the Vietnam War, through the Australian Government sponsored Philanthropic Organisation, was duly recognised by the Government through the award of the Vietnam Logistic Support Medal and rightly so.

Since the War, these ladies have continued to be very active in the Vietnam Veterans Community. They are full members of the RSL and members of this Association. They also formed the "Forces Entertainment Association" (FEA) and proudly march under this banner every ANZAC Day and encourage those who entertained in other theatres of war to join them on that day.

These lovely "young ladies" ("our girls") attend many Official Government and military functions/ceremonies such as "vietnam Veterans Day" and we Vietnam veterans in particular look forward to their presence on these occasions.

Many of us continue to suffer the traumas of war and these ladies through their care and support in the past and on going to this day have boosted our moral(e) and self esteem on many occasions. Thankyou "girls".

I believe that I speak on behalf of ALL Vietnam Veterans when I say that we truly appreciate what the "girls" did for us during and after the War and to this day. We love "our girls" and look forward  to seeing and being with them on as many occasions as possible until the day that we have to go to that big "parade Ground" in the sky.

Yours faithfully,
William (Bill) Roberts JP
Senior Vice President
