A message from the President.

On Friday 02 October 2015, I met with two officers of the Public Trustee, Qld who had completed the handing over procedures for the Association to gain possession of the donated possessions of Robert “Jock Sharpe” 10 Platoon, D Company 4 RAR/NZ (ANZAC). Jock served with us on our first tour of south Vietnam in 1968-69. A short story concerning Jock is attached.

I am pleased to report that with the approval of Jock's sister Mrs Elizabeth Stephenson, who resides in the United Kingdom, I was handed a group of documents, photos and Jock's medals that will now be placed in a display cabinet at our 4RAR Museum Annex within the Gold Coast War Museum at Mudgeeraba Qld. A photo of the handover is shown below. It has taken four years of determined research and work by a lot of people including Noel Kelly, Bob Woodbury, Maureen Price and the staff of the Public Trustee to finally “bring Jock home”.

A special thank you to Mrs Elizabeth Stephenson is extended and Elizabeth will be formally requested to accept life time associate membership of the Association as we do with the immediate Next of Kin of all of our fallen and departed members.
As soon as a new display cabinet has been furnished and Jock’s story and artefacts appropriately displayed, it is our intention to determine a date for the official opening of the display. It will be suitably named as The Robert” Jock” Sharpe Collection or something similar. All members will be invited to the opening.

I am calling again for photos, artefacts or similar relating to Jock's life that you may have hidden away somewhere that we can add to the display. Does anybody have a photo of Jock’s still on the Horseshoe? This project is very important to us as Jock has no grave site or memorial in Australia and we wish to celebrate his life with us.Items may be sent to me at:
